The Air Medal was authorized in 1942 retroactive to Sept. 8, 1939.
The Criteria to receive the Air Medal are: Heroic Actions or Meritorious Service while participating in Aerial Fight, but not of a degree that would justify an award of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
This U.S. Armed Forces Medal does not look like it has been used and is in good condition.
